Lots of Updates on My Life

I am writing to you from Washington, DC!!! It is a work trip but I did have a little time to play. I arrived yesterday afternoon and to my delight, I learned that it is Cherry Blossom Season!! I thought I was arriving too early in the season to get to experience it, but lucky for me I was wrong. I can't get over how pretty it is here. It has been about 10 years since my last trip to DC so I am definitely enjoying my trip and wishing I had more time to experience the city. I know alot of my friends say they would hate to travel alone, but even though I would rather have my dear husband or a good friend to experience this with me, traveling alone is fine with me and never stops me from doing what I want. I am staying at the Willard InterContinental Hotel on Pennsylvania Ave. I am 2 blocks from the White House and 5 blocks from the Capitol. I went on a Moonlight Monument Tour last night which was a great way to see the sights of DC at night. I took some great pictures that I will post once I return. Today, was meetings, but late this afternoon, I was able to do a little shopping at a local scrapbook store that I found online. ( You know I can't go to a new city without finding a Scrapbook Store) It is called Ipso Crafto. It is in a cute area of DC called Eastern Market. I would have liked to do a little more window shopping in the area, but it was a rainy cold day. I am returning tomorrow afternoon and it is back to the real world and the stress of my job. I have a press conference to plan when I return. Wish me luck!

Since my last post, I am now fully recovered from my tonsil surgery. I was out of work for and in a pain medicine coma for what felt like forever but was 2 weeks. I only expected to be out for a week, but due to a infection, it ended up being 2 weeks. The recovery was just as bad as I heard it was going to be. If any of you still have your tonsils, I recommend you keep them. It is true that it is worse the older you are.

On another note, please keep my grandmother, Sophie Arcement in your prayers. We found out last week that she has cancer in her liver, lungs and bones. She is currently in ICU undergoing tests, and working out some complications of it all. Please keep my grandmother and our family in your prayers.

It is never a dull moment in my life and this week is no exception.

I am planning to go to the hospital tomorrow night to see my grandmother. I go back to work on Wednesday to play catch up and plan my press conference coming up. Wednesday night I will be attending the SCIA Crawfish Boil for work and Thursday I have 2 groups of people and events to take care of in Fourchon. Friday night I will be busy preparing for the Lockport Main Street Craft Show that I will be at with the Scrap Boutique on Saturday all day. Come stop by and say hi. I will have a Stampin' Up! booth there.

BTW - I have a Stampin' Up website now. check it out at http://paulaschouest.stampinup.net. Check it out for a calendar of my upcoming events.

Another exciting event I am helping the Scrap Boutique plan is the Girls Gone Crafty Scrapbooking Event. It will be at the Cut Off Youth Center on August 1-2, 2008. Registration opened today. Go to my their website at www.confessionsofadramamama.blogspot.com to learn more. I will be working the event and I will have a Stampin' Up booth there.

Whew, just writing about all the stuff I have coming up makes me tired so I am heading to bed for what I hope will be a good night of sleep before I return to the real world.

Till next time....it is just another day in Paula's Shoes

It has been too Long....

It has been too long since my last post. I have to get better at this. Work has been crazy since the beginning of the year and is taking up alot of my time.

For those Scrapaholics out there like me, I am helping the Scrap Boutique put together a "Girls Gone Crafty" weekend August 1-2 at the Cut Off Youth Center. It will be a mini scrapbook retreat. Lots of classes, crops, goodies and more!! Keep checking out my blog for more information to come soon.

I am also preparing for my surgery tomorrow - I am having my tonsils removed. Yes, I know that I am not a kid anymore and that having your tonsils out at 28 years old is not easy, but I have to do it. I have never had any surgery in my life and getting "put to sleep" is really freaking me out right now. I have flashes of Nip Tuck and the nurse saying count back from 10. 9...8...7...then they put the breathing tube down my throat. But don't worry, I have informed my husband, family and friends what i want at my funeral and who I want to get my prize possessions - jewelry and scrapbooking stuff, of course!!! Diamonds and scrapbooking is a girls best friend, right? I know, I know, that is a 99.999% chance that i will not die, but I have to be prepared just in case!!

Speaking of scrapbooking - I have so much scrapbooking to do. I have a great idea for a "Forever Friends" page of my girlfriends from college and a page idea for the "Grabert-Schouest Date Night". I need to seriously spend some time creating an art journal so that i can write by ideas down in. Don't you just hate it when you have a great scrapbooking idea and no time to see it through? That's how I feel. I also need to finish the scrapbook i am doing for my cousin's trip to England and start a scrapbook for my friend Lacey who is having her first baby. Why would anyone want someone else to do their scrapbook for them is besides me, but I am always the one who offers to do it. HA

Well lets hope that my surery good really good and I feel good enough to maybe do a little scrapbooking while I am recuperating. Did I mention that I have never taken a full week of work off for anything except when i got married? Being away from my job for a week really makes me nervous too.

Oh well, till next time, glad you stopped by to read what a Day in Paula's Shoes is about.
